From sleepless nights to those first quiet moments of bonding, we know how important your baby’s comfort (and your peace of mind) are. At Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental in Massapequa Park, we specialize in infant laser frenectomies and breastfeeding support with warmth, clarity, and care. Whether you’re navigating painful latching, feeding frustrations, or speech concerns later down the road, we’re here for your growing family, every step of the way.
Feeding your baby shouldn’t be stressful or painful, for you or for them. Sometimes, however, a lip- or tongue-tie (known medically as a restrictive frenulum) can make breastfeeding challenging or even impossible. That’s where a quick procedure called a frenectomy comes in.
This simple laser procedure gently removes the tight tissue, helping babies latch more effectively and feed more comfortably. Parents choose Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dentistry not just because of our experience, but because we truly listen. We understand how much your child’s health means to you, and we treat your family like part of ours.
Our laser frenectomy process is designed to be smooth, fast, and minimally invasive, especially for infants.
We begin with a detailed consultation. This includes a conversation with one of our doctors, who will assess feeding challenges and perform a gentle oral examination. We’ll connect with your pediatrician or lactation consultant if needed.
We guide you through aftercare, including stretches and healing tips, and follow up regularly. Your child’s comfort is our priority.
If a frenectomy is recommended, we use advanced soft tissue lasers to release the tight tissue. The procedure typically takes just a few minutes. In most infant cases, no stitches are required.
We stay connected with your support network (pediatricians, speech therapists, and lactation consultants) to ensure your baby’s development is progressing as it should.

A frenectomy may be needed when the abnormal attachment of the lip or tongue prevents proper latch while breast or bottle feeding.
Sometimes, due to a tight frenulum (the piece of tissue under the tongue), children may struggle to move their tongue into the correct posture to produce certain sounds. Often, removing this tissue can aid in speech therapy.
Typically, in our office, we do not place stitches for infant frenectomies, but may at times for older children and young adults.
Our doctors are specially trained in using soft tissue lasers for frenectomies and have extensive experience performing this procedure. Our doctors have completed very specific training and meet frequently with pediatricians and lactation consultants. We provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment for honest and open communication and guidance. Importantly, we view the entire child and often don’t recommend a frenectomy or suggest other solutions to resolve issues. The choice is ultimately made by the parents, along with their support network, which includes lactation consultants, pediatricians, and other healthcare providers. There is no pressure to perform any procedure in our office.
We offer family block appointments to accommodate patients of all ages. This convenient scheduling option allows families to book multiple appointments simultaneously, saving time and simplifying visits.
We believe in starting oral care early, so dental services for children under three are free. This helps them build healthy habits from the beginning.
Our clinic features clean, modern facilities equipped with the latest technology, providing your child with the safest and most effective treatments available.
At Adelberg Montalvan Pediatric Dental, we’re not just your child’s dental team, we’re a part of your village. We honor your desire for excellence, safety, and real connection. Let’s support your baby’s health, together.
I can not say enough wonderful things about the team and the doctors. I was a new patient who called and given my situation, they were able to get me In the same day. The doctor was funny, informative, and was able to keep my child calm while he did the work that was needed.
